Guide to Mass Uploading Product Master in EWM using Warehouse Monitor & /SCWM/MIG_PRODUCT

In this document, I will explain how to mass upload the product master in the SAP EWM system within S4HANA using the warehouse monitor and /SCWM/MIG_PRODUCT.

When you create a material using the MM01 transaction, your master data will automatically transfer to the EWM system due to the embedded connection.

For example, if you create the material MAT200 in MM01, you can see the material data created in ERP tables such as MARA, MARD, and MARC.kannanchokkanathan1_0-1740908462572.pngHowever, if you attempt to view the same data in the T code /SCWM/MAT1(warehouse level), you will encounter an error. This occurs because the material created in MM01 means that the global data of the material has been established, making it accessible for all SAP modules such as EWM, TM, MDG, etc. This is a functionality of the embedded system.kannanchokkanathan1_1-1740908462575.pngIn the transaction code /SAPAPO/MAT1, you can view all basic global-level data created in the ERP system.kannanchokkanathan1_2-1740908462578.pngkannanchokkanathan1_3-1740908462582.pngNow, we will focus on extending product data with the warehouse view in the EWM system.

To accomplish this, we will use the transaction code /SCWM/MAT1, which allows us to extend both the warehouse view of the product and specific storage types.

It's important to note the following:

- Your warehouse view data will be stored in the database table /SAPAPO/MATLWH ( not a product as a direct entry, pass MATNR to /SAPAPO/MATKEY and get the MATID then pass here).

- Data related to warehouse storage types will be stored in the database table /SAPAPO/MATLWHST.

Here is an example of this,

I have maintained the warehouse data but not the storage-type data. Now let's see how it appears on the tables.kannanchokkanathan1_4-1740908462589.pngkannanchokkanathan1_5-1740908462594.pngkannanchokkanathan1_6-1740908462599.pngMass upload product master in S4 HANA EWM:

Mass uploading of the product master in EWM means extending the warehouse view/storage type view for materials that have already been created in MM01 within ERP. Therefore, it is essential that the material master is created prior to performing the mass extension of the product master.

I have created the following material in MM01 (in ERP), and there is no warehouse data maintained yet.kannanchokkanathan1_7-1740908462601.pngWe can check the list of products that do not have maintained warehouse data in the warehouse monitor belowkannanchokkanathan1_8-1740908462605.pngkannanchokkanathan1_9-1740908462611.pngMass upload/extend using -/SCWM/MIG_PRODUCT:

Refer the SAP KBA – “2602348 - Tools for Batch Warehouse Product Maintenance in S/4Hana embedded EWM”

In the KBA above, SAP explained how to use /SCWM/MIG_PRODUCT, and a sample file is also attached to the note. We can download the file named "scwm_mig_product_template_NEW.xlsx" and fill in our product master details there.

Below is the screenshot of the filled data from the file, and I converted this file to a .CSV format when saving it on the local drive.kannanchokkanathan1_10-1740908462615.pngExecute /SCWM/MIG_PRODUCTkannanchokkanathan1_11-1740908462619.pngAfter executing, we are getting the below error,kannanchokkanathan1_12-1740908462621.pngThe error occurs because we have not selected a field separator on the selection screen. If the field separator is not chosen, the system will not be able to read the spreadsheet data correctly. Therefore, ensure that the field separator is set to a comma (,) on the initial screen.

Now, let's fill in the fields and execute the process again.kannanchokkanathan1_13-1740908462624.pngAfter executing the process again, we can now see that everything is green and there are no errors.kannanchokkanathan1_14-1740908462627.pngWe can check the extended product details in the warehouse monitor as below,kannanchokkanathan1_15-1740908462635.pngProduct Master extension using warehouse monitor:

Additionally, we can extend the product master using the warehouse monitor, and below we will test that functionality with the test case.

Please refer SAP KBA-“2627825 - Mass Creation of Warehouse Products from Monitor” & “2602348 - Tools for Batch Warehouse Product Maintenance in S/4Hana embedded EWM”kannanchokkanathan1_16-1740908462643.pngkannanchokkanathan1_17-1740908462646.pngIn the screenshot below, we can see that the product is created in MM01, but the warehouse data is not extended.kannanchokkanathan1_18-1740908462653.pngFollow the steps below to extend it,kannanchokkanathan1_19-1740908462659.pngWe have filled in the following details, which will apply to all the items selected on the previous screen. However, please note that this means all the selected products will have the same data entered here. If you need different data for specific items, those materials must be processed separately.kannanchokkanathan1_20-1740908462667.pngThe warehouse data for the materials has now been created.kannanchokkanathan1_21-1740908462674.pngIn the same way, we can maintain the storage type data and follow the screenshots for extending the storage type data view for the products.kannanchokkanathan1_22-1740908462680.pngEnter the storage type where you will extend the product in the selection screen,kannanchokkanathan1_23-1740908462684.pngkannanchokkanathan1_24-1740908462690.pngkannanchokkanathan1_25-1740908462695.pngkannanchokkanathan1_26-1740908462699.pngkannanchokkanathan1_27-1740908462706.pngNow, storage-type data is also maintained for the product.

Note:

We can use the warehouse monitor to make mass changes to warehouse products. If a product is already extended, the system will apply the changes based on the data provided. However, if the product is not extended in EWM, the monitor will create/extend the product according to the given data.
